Our History

Metropolitan was established in a small office in Windhoek in 1969, when a syndicate was formed that was aimed at providing funeral solutions to the community in order to give their loved ones a dignified funeral. Since then, Metropolitan has grown through a combination of organic growth, mergers with other companies and acquisitions to become what it is today.

Governance

Momentum and Metropolitan merged on 1 September 2019 to form Momentum Metropolitan Namibia Limited. The merger has positioned Momentum Metropolitan Life Limited as the third largest life insurer in Namibia. Metropolitan is a division of the of Momentum Metropolitan Namibia Ltd group and caters for the emerging income market segment with tailor- made solutions..


Metropolitan Summer Cup

The Metropolitan Summer Cup  tournament is our annual flagship event for Junior Secondary Schools in the U/20 age group division in both soccer and netball sports disciplines. The tournament brings together leaners from various schools in eight different regions including Omusati, Oshana , Ohangwena, Otjikoto , Karas , Hardap , Kavaongo East and Erongo region. The purpose of this event is to create a platform for these underprivileged school leaners to come showcase their skills and talents,  of which the winning school walk away with prize monies for the schools development programs.
